How long does an electric sauna take to heat up?
Heat-up time depends on the heater output, sauna volume, insulation, glass area, ventilation, starting temperature, and stone mass. A properly sized electric heater in a well-insulated traditional sauna may take about an hour to bring the room and stones to bathing temperature. Outdoor conditions or large areas of glass and masonry can increase heat-up time.
Can you put water on an electric sauna heater?
Yes, when the electric sauna heater is designed for traditional sauna stones. Use clean water and ladle it onto the heated stones according to the manufacturer's instructions. Do not pour water directly onto exposed heating elements, controls, sensors, or other electrical components. Stone type, quantity, and placement must also match the heater manual.
How much electricity does an electric sauna heater use?
Electricity use is based mainly on heater output and operating time. A 6 kW heater running at full output for one hour can use up to about 6 kWh of electricity; an 8 kW heater can use up to about 8 kWh. In normal operation, the thermostat may cycle the heating elements on and off after the sauna reaches temperature, so actual consumption can be lower.
