Living in the Present Moment as a Father

As I had breakfast with my family, I read a page from Ryan Holiday’s book, The Daily Dad — page 386, with the header “Why Are You Rushing.” The premise of the page spoke about how we as parents tend to rush through things when it relates to our children and family. We rush them to get to school, we rush them to get ready for bed, only to watch Netflix after and then miss them because we wanted to spend more time with them.

It’s important to remind ourselves that life is too short. In the pursuit of building My Energy Flow, which comes with its own unique set of obstacles, opportunities, successes, setbacks, and more, I remind myself to tread lightly with grace. As Ryan Holiday describes, “When we rush, we should know that we are hurrying through life.”

A quiet reminder of how precious it is to live in the present moment.

Tonight I had the opportunity to put my 4-year-old daughter to sleep, and like so many nights after they are down and I am back at it building My Energy Flow, I reminded myself to stop and take a moment to appreciate the moment.

As she lay in my arms, deeply asleep, I had the chance to place my hand over her heart and feel her heartbeat. That simple thud that fit so nicely under my palm grounded me and became the highlight of my day.

I remember before she was born, when she was still growing in my wife’s belly, I would take a stethoscope and find that little heartbeat. For the most part, I knew where it was, yet some nights I would go on an adventure, exploring and trying to source its location. Once it was found, I would spend a moment listening and closing my eyes, feeling the positive frequency and vibrations of her simple heart.

It’s been a while since I have heard or felt that precious heartbeat in such a still way. In the pace of raising a young child, it’s easy to move through these small moments unconsciously. Tonight I made a conscious decision to slow down, and I was taken back to life’s simple moments — the ones that quietly raise our levels of awareness as parents and as humans.

Learning How to Stay Present

Moments like this remind me that living in the present moment is not a concept — it’s a practice. It’s a choice we keep making in the small, ordinary scenes of our day. For me, part of learning how to stay present is letting myself feel the weight of my daughter’s body in my arms, the rhythm of her breath, and the gentle pulse of that little heart that once echoed through a stethoscope.

These are the moments that recalibrate my inner compass. They soften the noise of deadlines and to-do lists and bring me back to what truly matters: being here, now, with the people I love.

What This Means for My Energy Flow

As we build My Energy Flow, I am reminded to flow forward with grace. The vision is beautiful, and we aim to be an ecosystem that lets people claim their inner power — but we, as the founders, must also remind ourselves to pause from time to time and not let life pass us by.

Our work is about more than saunas or wellness tools. It’s about helping people reconnect with themselves, elevate their awareness, and honour their own energetic rhythm. If you’d like to see where we are heading, you can explore Our Journey Ahead , a living outline of the vision we are building at My Energy Flow.

If this resonated with you, we would love to hear your feedback and your story.

From my heart,
Pedram Beheshti
Founder & CEO, My Energy Flow
