The main difference is the wood. The Canadian Timber Collection, which includes the CT Tranquility, primarily uses Eastern White Cedar with a lighter color, tighter grain, and subtler aroma. Leisurecraft’s Dundalk Collection uses Western Red Cedar. Both collections are produced in the same Ontario factory using the same manufacturing team and construction methods.
Yes. The Tranquility is designed as an outdoor barrel sauna. Leisurecraft uses Eastern White Cedar for the Canadian Timber Collection and states that the wood is naturally resistant to moisture and decay. Regular ventilation, seasonal inspection, and basic cedar and barrel-band maintenance are still important for long-term outdoor use.
No. Leisurecraft lists the asphalt shingle roof and matching trim pieces as optional accessories for the Tranquility. The sauna kit can be assembled without the optional roof package, while buyers who want the additional roof finish can add the compatible shingle kit separately.
Yes. Cedar naturally expands and contracts as temperature and humidity change. Leisurecraft recommends checking barrel bands after the initial installation, typically within the first month, and inspecting them periodically afterward. Loose bands can be tightened as needed, but they should remain secure without being overtightened.
The interior cedar is normally left natural and unfinished. For the exterior, you can either allow the cedar to weather naturally to a silver-grey tone or apply a penetrating exterior wood finish suitable for cedar if you want to preserve more of its original color. Only products specifically designed for sauna interiors should be used inside the sauna.
The CT Tranquility combines Canadian-made construction, long bench space, and the value-focused design of Leisurecraft’s Canadian Timber Collection. These details help distinguish it from smaller outdoor barrel sauna kits and premium red cedar alternatives.
Leisurecraft sources the Eastern White Cedar used in its Canadian Timber Collection from Ontario mills and shapes it in the same Ontario factory used for its Dundalk products. This gives the Tranquility a lighter cedar appearance while retaining Leisurecraft’s established construction methods.
The interior uses two long cedar benches measuring approximately 94¾ inches in length and 20 inches deep. That extended bench space gives bathers more flexibility to sit together or stretch out during a traditional sauna session.
